HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Hello everyone!

Firstly can I take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to you all for your cards and pressies.....they were lovely! :)

Secondly (and yes, I know its a tad early, but HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all! I hope you have a lovely evening tomorrow and look forward to seeing you on Thursday 2nd for our very first class of 2014! (where DOES the time go!?)

I will be teaching a couple of nice dances throughout January along with reviews of Decembers dances of course...

New to the Thursday class will be:

A LITTLE BIT GYPSY...which is danced to a lovely piece of music called Little Bit Gypsy by Kellie Pickler - the dance is by Nev Fitzgerald and Julie Harris...and is gaining in popularity very fast across the UK!

I will also be teaching DREAM LOVER - by Daniel Whittaker...this dance is doing so well in the UK it would be wrong to leave it off my teach list!! You will all recognise the song of course - and this version is by Jason Donovan!

SMALL PRICE INCREASE - 50p each - due to rising costs.... I hope you will all understand my need to increase my charges by an extra 50p each which I am always very reluctant to do...however we are still very competitive compared to other local classes....rising costs just have to be met I'm afraid! 

Class times/New prices are:

THURSDAY CLASS ONLY! (Friday and Mondays classes remain unchanged)

6.30 - 7.45 Beginners - £4.00 (just add £1 to stay longer!)
7.30 - 8.45 Improvers/Easy intermediate - £4.00 (just add £1 to stay longer!)
8.00 - 10.00 Easy intermediate/Intermediate - £5.00 (no extra charge if you arrive early!) 

But as usual you are allowed to arrive at any point you like - you will all have worked out which part of the evening suits you best - Ill leave it up to you!  

New Dances are taught just after 7 p.m. 8 p.m. and 8.45 p.m. in increasing levels of difficulty! 

BOURNEMOUTH NEWS! Of course it's not very long now until we go away for our BIG ANNUAL HOLIDAY to Bournemouth! (whoop!) and can I please just gently remind you that the balance is due by the end of this week, at the very latest....if you could please bring your cheques/cash to class if you are unable to pay online that would be brilliant!

Calling all Line Dancers in West Wickham, Kent!

Week Beginning Monday 28th October in The Katz Modern Line Dance Club!

Dear Dancers,

On Monday 28th October it is our Request & Review night!! I have a list of dances hand picked by YOU to play for you on that night - some are pure and simple requests, and some are reviews of favourite dances! As its Halloween week I will also be throwing in a few relevant songs such as THRILLER for Black coffee, and more!

Ill bring along my Witches Hat and Broomstick (hang on - the car has a bigger boot, so I had best bring that instead) and a few treats besides......let's party shall we!

On Thursday 31st October we are going full on HALLOWEEN as it just so happens to actually BE Halloween on that night! So spook it up as much (or as little) as you wish!!! If you would like to bring along some nibbles to share with your table that would be great too!  The beginners class will run pretty much as normal - with a few more requests thrown in - and from 7.45 til 10 I will be working from a list provided by YOU for your first EVER Request & Review Night!!! Listen out for a few spooky tunes to get you in the mood!

Classes run as normal on Friday 1st November in the Newell Centre (did I just say NOVEMBER!! WOW!!) and Saturday 2nd November at The Viking Music & Dance Club in Selsey!!

Oak Lodge open again!! August 19th 2014

Im very pleased to say that all classes are back on this week as per normal!

Starting with Oak Lodge on the 19th! woo hooo!

then Thursday evening in the Newell and Friday afternoon too of course!

and finally Saturday afternoon in the Viking! As its a bank holiday weekend there will be no linedancing on Saturday night, as theres a Madness tribute band on. Maybe you would like to pop along to my class for your regular saturday line dance fix instead!!? its 1 til 4 p.m. ill even squeeze in all your requests too if i can!

On Saturday at the Viking its AMERICANA DAY!! My lessons are from 12 - 2 and again from 3 - 4.......but thats not all - also included on Satuday are: A Diana Ross tribute and the show team with their Four All Seasons show!! plus Outside - we have a strolling Dixie band, face painting, kids talent pagent, BBQ, charity stall, bucking bronco, horseshoe throw, shoot out stall, kids fun hour arts and crafts, candyfloss stand, cars, giant us truck, stilt walking, jj the fox, lots of fun.........come and join us for a day of fun both inside and outside the Viking! Completely free of charge as usual! On Saturday night we have the very talented CALICO joining us for the evening - and lets not forget (as we sometimes do) that holding the evening together with is impeccable comparing skills and, of course, DJING its our very own DJ Andy playing all your requests all night long...!  Hope you are all fit and well and enjoying the sunshine – oh hold on – my mistake! The rain! Well at least the pots don’t need as much watering tee hee...   Please scroll down for information about your individual classes over the coming weeks:  

 MONDAY EVENINGS – OAK LODGE PRIMARY SCHOOL – WEST WICKHAM, KENT Firstly I need to shout out a big THANK YOU to Viv and Ella for running two demonstrations on behalf of the club on Satuday June 22nd at Oak Lodge primary school as part of their summer fair, and the following week at St. Christophers Hospice as part of their fun day! If you would like to join in the fun, please do drop me a line and I’ll pass on all the details!   All classes are running as normal during June and July – there is one slight change on Monday July 15th when Vivienne will be covering the class for me with a dance night, she will be working from a list specifically put in order by me, filling in spaces with your requests,...please do come along to support Viv that night, I hear you have great fun without me! (Ill try not to be offended haha)..   Your SUMMER PIMMS PARTY will be on  MONDAY 29TH JULY!!! Please look out for a food list on the table nearer the time for our shared buffet!  

 THURSDAY EVENINGS – THE NEWELL CENTRE, TOZER WAY, CHICHESTER.... As you all know your SUMMER PARTY is on July 4th – complete with live music and dancing with Lass Vagas! This event is now SOLD OUT....! very sorry but entry that evening is strictly by ticket only..... Please look out for a food list on the table nearer the time for our shared buffet! There are no closures of your classes during the rest of June and July!! On July 11th and 18th Lesley will be covering the classes for me...please do go along to the classes, you will be guaranteed a great evening!! Again, don’t have too much fun without me eh!?   FRIDAY AFTERNOONS – THE NEWELL CENTRE, TOZER WAY, CHICHESTER... Classes are on as normal during June – but unfortunately there are NO classes on JULY 12TH AND 19TH........my apologies! Your SUMMER PIMMS PARTY WILL BE ON JULY 26th!!! Please come along at 1 p.m. no matter what time your class usually is! I will put out a list by the door nearer the time for our shared buffet.....perhaps you could bring along a small plate of something to share with the group? If so, that would be lovely thank you! As well as a FREE Pimms that day, I will have a non alcoholic drink as an alternative....!   SATURDAY AFTERNOON – AT THE VIKING CLUB, GREEN LAWNS, SELSEY....   All classes are on as normal. There are no closures at all. Please note that on July 13th Dominic Yates will be your instructor during the afternoon, and your compere and DJ during the evening... Dominic is a very experienced line dance instructor/DJ with a winning smile – you are sure to have a great day! Monday 20th May....news for Oak Lodge Dancers!

Dear Oak Lodge  Dancers,

I hope you are all fit and well, and enjoying the warmer weather we are having!

Just a little note to say how much Im looking forward to seeing you all later, for a good ol boogie on a lovely light evening....and also to let you know that there will be no class next week due to the Bank holiday monday.  I was originally going to open on the Tuesday but have decided to take the day off and get some jobs done around the house on those two days instead! Dont tell Andy but I have a list of jobs for him all prepared too..shhhh!

We are going through a great time in line dancing at the moment with some brilliant, gorgeous and fabulous dances being taught.....for instance tonight I will be teaching Cloud number nine, which is to a lovely song by Bryan Adams. this dance is intmediate and will be taught after 8 p.m.

Dear dancers,

I hope you are all fit and well, and enjoying the spring sunshine and warmer weather...it certainly took a while to arrive but at last it has, along with lighter evenings and cool breeezes, its perfect line dancing conditions I'm sure you'll agree!

As Monday 6th May is a bank holiday, the class at Oak Lodge will be held on Tuesday 7th instead, class times as normal, I hope you can make it...!

As you will know I am now twking bookings for our TENTH Katz holiday! If you habent yet received a booking form by email, please do drop me a line on julie@linedancingevents.com and I'll be happy to send one over. The dates are February 7 th to 9 th 2014.

If you do not have an email address simply give me a call and Ill pop one in the post for you instead! and of course you can also pick up a form in any of my classes.

The holiday is already three quarters full, so please dont leave it too long before filling in your forms as I have a waiting list of new people who would like to join us this year, and am currently holding quite a few places for class members who have shown an interest in booking.  I can only hold places for a short while longer before offering them to others, I hope you understand....

on a other note I would like to thank everyone for donating towards our Daffodil Week, you raised a total of £300 which has been sent to Marie Curie fundraising with a completed form...

News for Oak Lodge dancers: we have been asked to send along demo teams for two Saturdays in June...22nd is for a twenty minute demo actually at Oak Lodge, Ella is helping to organise this onem and the second one is for St. Christophers hospice, as part of their fun day. Viv is organising this one. if you are free to join in either one please do let me know..cheers!

Firstly I need to let you know that there are a few dates we will NOT be open over Easter...we are closed on

GOOD FRIDAY – 29th March

EASTER MONDAY – 1st April (sorry no class on Tuesday that week after all)

THURSDAY – 4th April

All other classes are on as normal – Viking classes on Saturdays are not affected either....are are back to their normal times of 1 – 4 p.m. from this Saturday.

Secondly I want to say a HHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE THANK YOU to everyone who bought my self assembled RED NOSE DAY CAKES, donated to the raffle and bought raffle tickets across all classes last week – between us we managed to raise a stonking £275.00!!! This will be paid in directly to Comic Relief – look out for the receipt on my notice board.... J

In other news....booking forms for both Katz holidays will be available in all classes after Easter....so keep an eye out for those! The dates are: February 7th to 9th 2014 (Wessex Hotel Bournemouth) and August 11th to 15th – TLH Leisure Resort, Torquay!)

Tickets for our Summer Party in the Newell Centre (Chichester) on THURSDAY JULY 4TH will also be on sale soon – don’t forget that night its USA all the way – and we have LIVE music from Lass Vagas too!

DAFFODIL DANCE WEEK WILL BE IN APRIL!



In all classes from Monday 15th April everything turns Yellow for Marie Curie....Ill be selling Daffodil pins in all classes and will be teaching this years special daffodil dance! More on this later....

IMPORTANT NEWS FOR VIKING LINE DANCERS
One more little notice for our dancers who come out to social dance on Saturday Nights – in place of the ALTER EAGLES on Saturday 30th is an OLLY MURRS TRIBUTE act......and on Satuday 6th April – there are two tribute acts on – Country roads (A tribute to Jon Denver) and Lady Ga Ga from Bunn Leisures very own Verity!

Please note that these two Satudays are over the school holidays and holiday makers will be given priorty over linedancing.....normal Saturdays – line dance based – will resume on Saturday 13th April with Tim McKay! (and the school holidays will be over)

BUT!! If you require a good ol line dance fix on the two Saturdays that are tribute nights then all you have to do is come along to my class in the afternoon from 1 – 4 p.m. (1 til 2 is for beginners but Ill squeeze in split floors if possible!)...Ill do my best to make up for your disappointment by playing allll your requests and may even carry on a little bit after 4 p.m. but don’t tell anyone I said that ok ? ssshhh! ;)

This coming Saturday, 23rd March, we have the fab CALICO (a dedicated line dance act) performing for us – so please don’t forget to show your support to Bunn Leisure for allowing non residents into their club by coming along for the evening......!!

RED NOSE WEEK AND THE VIKING PARTY!

Just a little note about line dancing in the Viking this weekend. Very sorry but there is no beginner class on Saturday afternoon this week..as this weekend is the Mad March Party. instead there are two improver/intermediate workshops on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 11 til 1 p.m. plus live music from 1 p.m. from the UKs best line dance acts! (No tuition) and social line dancing on Friday Saturday and Sunday evenings for experienced line dancers (no tuition in the evenings for beginners). The reviews of the morning workshops will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday! Normal service will resume on Saturday 23rd March with a beginners class from 1 to 2 p.m.!

WELCOME TO RED NOSE WEEK! !!!!! please wear red to all classes this week and red noses too if possible! And if you would like to do something funny for money why not wear a silly hat or funny wig!? Maybe some deeley boppers? Or anything else you can think of! There will be raffles in Monday Thursday and Fridays classes so if you have a donation that would be great! Dear dancers

Welcome to March! The lighter evenings are on their way at last!

Classes start in daylight once more!  Hurray!

Tonight I will be teaching MEXI-FEST and OUTTA CONTROL Plus a nice new one in the early class called LET'S DANCE FOREVER (LDF) and IS IT FRIDAY YET at 7.30 such fun!

Hope you can make it!

All classes are on as normal this week. .including my FREE daytime class in Selsey on Saturday!

Next week is COMIC RELIEF WEEK in the club..please help me to raise money for this great cause by doing something funny for money!  Simply eear something red and either wear a funny wig or a hat or do something original with your hair perhaps?

Ill be selling fairy cakes in all classes for 50p each and holding a charity raffle in Monday Thursday and Fridays classes so please bring along a donation if possible please!

Dear dancers

Classes are on as normal tonight and tomorrow afternoon in the Newell centre. But will be closed next week on the 14th and 15th.

Oak lodge is ON as usual nect Monday but closed on the 18th.

I will be reviewing all of the most recent teaches tonight so wjy not pop along for a good old boogie!

Just in case anyone was wondering if tonights class is on or not, of course it is!!! Anyone else going snow-stir crazy like me!?







Looking forward to seeing you all tonight......its week two of WAGON WHEEL ROCK, plus a new dance being taught at 8 p.m. in our Improvers section called WHEN I NEED YOU by karl Harry Winson - its a lovely dance, which the intermediates will love too!

oak lodge closed 21st January..

Dear dancers

I had a call from the caretaker at Oak Lodge. No one told him the school was closed. Poor thing got up at four to get there and clear the paths! However the school is not going to open for us tonight. It's a shame but minus temperatures tonight also make driving home for us all too dangerous.

Sorry everyone. Please could you pass this information on to anyone who isn't online.

Hi there!! If you are reading this because you have spotted one of my posters advertising my new ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS CLASS in the Newell Centre, Chichester which began last week, please do not worry that you will have missed anything - you havent!! For the next six weeks or so I fully expect new people to join each week.....so please do feel free to pop along and join in the fun!!

We start this evening (thursday 17th) at 6.30 to 7.30 for only £3.50 each including a free tea or coffee at the end of your class!

The evening then carries on with an improver class from 7.30 to 8.30 which is overlapped by our intermediates class from 8 - 10 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to come and try the classes out, no matter what level of line dancer you are, be it a newbie, a returner, or a very experienced dancer....we cater for all levels, all styles of music and dance.....and most importantly I am lucky enough to have THE friendliest bunch of dancers you will ever meet....!

So why no pop along and see us - the car park is attached to the Newell Centre and is completely free of charge!

Hi everyone - just to say that dancing IS on as normal in the Newell centre later on - Ill be teaching WAGON WHEEL ROCK after 8.30 along with week two of DISCONNECTED! Plus its week two of SHATTERED DREAMS in the 7.30 Improvers class...along with lots of lovely other things for our brand new dancers and new and improved improvers! :D oh and Ill also have three black club t shirts complete with logos for sale for £10 each if anyone wants one...i have a 14 a 16 and an 18...see yas later!! (lucky we have a nice heated hall eh?perhaps I wont turn it right off today lol) oh AND ILL ALSO HAVE TICKETS ON SALE FOR OUR UP AND COMING EARLY SPRING PARTY which is in the Newell on Saturday 2nd Feb!! Whew!

Firstly can I just wish you all a very Happy new year and hope that the festive season went well for you all, many many thanks once again for all your lovely cards presents and messages!

Below are the dates for all classes returning in January:

January 3rd - Experienced Beginners through to Intemediate class reopens, all times as normal! (note: the NEW absolute beginners class opens NEXT week on Thursday January 10th at 6.30 to 7.30 p.m.) (see more info below)

January 4th - Friday class returns : Intermediates 12.45 to 2.15 followed by Beginners 2.15 to 3.45 (please note the beginners class is suitable for anyone wishing to come to an easy going traditional class)

January 7th (Monday) Oak Lodge, West Wickham returns - all times as normal!!

NEW CLASS - ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS - THURSDAY 10TH JANUARY - THE NEWELL CENTRE, TOZER WAY (OFF ST. PANCRAS), CHICHESTER...6.30 - 7.30 £3.50 (including free tea coffee) (the Newell has its own free car park - it has a sign on it saying PRIVATE CAR PARK, liable to be locked at any time - do NOT worry about this sign - I have the key, and the car park is intended for your use whilst you are taking part in the class)

If you are reading this blog because you have heard about our brand new class, then WELCOME!!

Modern linedancing is a great way to make friends and keep fit at the same time, I will teach you dances to ALL genres of music, from current pop hits from the likes of Olly Murrs to Rockin country from the likes of Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban and more.....you will also learn Rock N Roll routines to Rock around the Clock, and experience the latin rhythm dancing the cha cha to songs such as Lets Get Loud........in short modern linedancing is a totally different experience in the 21st century than it was 15 years ago...its diverse,  fun, vibrant and incredibly good value for money!

If you are interested in joining the class, simply come along on the 10th and join in! I will teach you simple basic routines that will enable you to be up and dancing within minutes of the class beginning!

Please wear low heeled supportive footwear, a shoe with a smooth sole is a good choice, loose fitting sandals or anything with a thin heel is not recommended.

You can wear any clothing you like - many people wear jeans and t shirts,

Please note we have use of the kitchen to make Tea and Coffee and you also have access to drinking water although many prefer to bring along a bottle of water to take sips from during the class.
