Christmas and New Year in the Katz MLDC!

Dear Dancers,

I hope you are all fit and well and prepared for the festivities to begin!

Here is a list of whats happening in your classes over the next few weeks...

MONDAYS - OAK LODGE SCHOOL, WEST WICKHAM, KENT.

In tonights class I will be teaching CHEAP TALK and WOM BOM BOM to the intermediates and giving lots of reviews to the early class, including THE BABY WOM and 16 TONS.....on the table will be a food list for next weeks shared buffet at our Christmas Party, please do take a look what other people are bringing and perhaps add something different to bring along? just a small plate of something is plenty...you always do us proud with your contributions and please remember Julie loves merangues! hee hee

Our final class this year will be On Monday 17th December which is also CHRISTMAS PARTY TIME! All levels mixed in together all evening!

The party will start at SEVEN but you are welcome to come in early if you are en route from work...! ill be playing all your requests and fave dances using split floors so dont worry you will be up boogieing all night long!

Most importantly that night we will be holding a CHARITY RAFFLE with all proceeds going to ST CHRISTOPHERS HOSPICE, so please do bring a donation for the raffle if you can....oh not forgetting a few extra pounds for the tickets!

Classes resume at Oak Lodge on January 7th. class times as normal.

THURSDAY EVENINGS, THE NEWELL CENTRE, CHICHESTER, WEST SUSSEX

On Thursday 13th I would like you all to come as early as possible as we sre holding our class in the BASIL SHIPPAM hall due to there being another group in the main hall that evening. Car parking spaces are of a premium so why not pop in early and have a good old boogie to some great classic dances with our existing beginners class? A new dance will be taught to our intermediates this week called CANT SHAKE YOU....its lovely, and has the feel of Quarter after one about it.....this will be taught after the 8.30 break.....

On Thursday 20th.....which is the final class of the year.......ill be bringing along mince pies to share with you all, and adding a festive feel to the class......as well as doing one final recap of all your fave dances taught in recent months, to prepare you for our BIG PARTY on Saturday 22nd! (which most of you are coming to!) 

Talking of which, we are almost completely sold out now, with just half a dozen tickets left..if you have already asked me to reserve you a ticket, dont worry i have! but if you havent then now is the time to get in touch before they all go!

The party is in the Newell Centre on Saturday 22nd December from 7 to 11.30 p.m!! tickets are £5 each...we will be holding a PRIZE RAFFLE that night, not a charity one, so no donations are necessary thank you! please do remember to bring along a couple of extra pounds to buy your tickets, and stand the chance of winning some fabulous prizes!! A food list will be out on the table on Thursday nights so you can perhaps bring something to share with the group!

Classes return to The Newell Centre on January 3rd..with a special night for our early class, details have been given out in class.

NEW ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS CLASS!!! STARTS THURSDAY 10TH JANUARY AT 6.30 P.M!!

Hi there! if you are reading this because you have heard we are just about to start a brand new class for new people, then welcome aboard!

Simply come along on January 10th at 6.20 to sign in, and then enjoy an hour of absolute beginner tuition of modern line dancing!! And all for only £3.50! (and it even includes a cuppa at the end!) 

You can expect to learn routines to music of ALL types..including Jennifer Lopez, Olly Murrs, Tom Jones and more! Accompanied children over the age of 8 are welcome to join the class too, alongside their adults!)

Please wear supportive low heeled shoes or trainers with a fairly smooth sole to dance in...no high heels or loose fitting sandals please.....!

You will be joining a class with other people who have never line danced before. or have a very small amount of experience behind them....i will teach you everything in detail, from the basic grapevine and chasses, to the jazzbox and rhumba, in a fun relaxed non competitive atmosphere with like minded people!

THE NEWELL CENTRE, FRIDAY AFTERNOONS, CHICHESTER, WEST SUSSEX.

This Friday, 14th December i will be teaching CHEAP TALK to the early intermediate class, along with reviews of LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME, ISLANDS IN THE STREAM, and anything else you would like reviewed!

Please remember that the beginner class which starts at 2.15 is suitable for absolute beginners to join too...the lastest dances being taught in this class are JUST A  MEMORY and LITTLE RHUMBA.....

teaching is slower and more careful in both these daytime classes,  and has a very relaxed friendly atmosphere, mostly suited to the retired person...the music chosen is mainly of a more traditional country style, and is strictly for adults only..the 12.15 class is also suitable for returners with many years experience.....you will receive a warm welcome anytime....

Friday 21 st December, CHRISTMAS PARTY!!

This party will combine both classes and starts at 1 P.M. until 3.30! 

There will be a prize raffle too and some fun dances to learn.........come along and let your hair down on the last class of the year!! we will also be having a shared buffet, the food list will be on the table in class this week....

Classes return on Friday 4th January at your usual times...

OAKLODGE MONDAY
Just a quickie to let you know that oak lodge is back to normal tonight! Doors open at 6.30 and the beginners class.....

A big thank you to Viv for covering for me last week..she's a star!

Tonight I will be teaching Beautiful iny eyes to the intermediates after 8.30... plus a few of the reviews you have asked for.

I will also be bringing along some little cakes to sell to raise money for children in need!

A BIG WELL DONE has to go out to all our SUSSEX dancers for raising £200 for the charity at Saturday nights social! ! Fab!

That's all for now folks...see you in a class very soon! All classes are running as normal this week. Apart firm saturdays class which has now closed until march next year.

Hairspray and Halloween!

Dear Dancers,

This week is Hairspray week... !

After teaching the dance in my Viking class I have decided its too good a dance to let the rest of my intermediate classes miss out on it!

I taught it on Monday at Oak Lodge and it got a round of applause! a rare event in todays busy classes!

I am teachng it on Thursday 25th October after eight p.m. in The Newell Centre....due to the slightly longer teach time, this will be the only time I can teach it in great depth.....after the first teach there will be a couple of weeks quick walk throughs only, so please do try to get along to class to learn it if you can..because its FAB!!

If any of our beginners fancy having a go at what is quite possibly the dance of the year, you are more than welcome to give it a go! its just £1 extra to stay all night!

THE VIKING IS STILL OPEN!

I've had a few messages from people wishing me a nice relaxing winter lol.....

Not yet!!

This Saturday we have Natalie and Darren Busby appearing...doors open at 6.30 £6.00 on the door....and as its almost Halloween the club has been turned into a spooky one so why not get dressed up in your best ghoulish gear and fly in on your broomsticks!!!?

And on Saturday November 3rd on our final night of the 2012 season we have The Alter Eagles and Paul Bailey to see us out in style!!!!

And don't forget on Saturday November 10th Andy and I are holding our first winter party in the Newell Centre Tozer Way Chichester!!! Ticket entry only...tickets will be on sale from tomorrow night at £5 each! We are holding a charity raffle for Children in need so if you have any donations they would be gratefully received......plus if you are a budding cake maker perhaps you would like to bring along a batch of small cakes to sell as well?! The dress code that night is SPOTTY!!!!

October 2012!

Dear Dancers Firstly many thanks to Viv for covering for me last week - you are a superstar! I hear you all had a fab time! This is just a quick note from me to say that all classes are on as normal this month - with the one exception being the Viking Party weekend - when my Saturday class will be on from 11 - 1 p.m. and not 1 - 4....I am also doing an extra workshop that weekend on the Sunday morning 11 - 1 p.m. Today is Monday 8th October and I will be teaching BLACK HEART at Oak Lodge school in West Wickham this evening...along with LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME for the 8 p.m. class and IMELDAS WAY for our lovely beginners class which starts at 6.30! Look forward to seeing you later! CLUB T SHIRTS All orders have been made by Hazel and I will have the completed T shirts ready for next weeks classes - thank you all so much for your orders, if you havent yet ordered a club tshirt and would like to, please approach me in your class as I have a supply of plain T shirts in varying sizes with me so that you can try them on before ordering..there has been a slight problem with some of the colours, but have found a lovely blue to add to the spectrum! A completed T shirt with crystal logo is only £10....no pressure to buy - hence leaving you to approach me and not the other way around! :) END OF VIKING SEASON APPROACHING FAST! This weekend is of course the October Viking Party - it starts on Friday night and we party all weekend with five sessions of live acts, two dance workshops, and hundreds of hours of Andy playing all your requests in the best venue for line dance, not just in the UK, but I would be so bold as to suggest, ON THE PLANET! haha Tickets are still available if you would like to come - just call Lucy at the Viking on 01243 608427 to make a reservation..... After that there are only THREE MORE SATURDAYS left of partying at the Viking - but do not fear Andy and I are planning a Saturday Social on November 10th at the Newell Centre so you can boogie your socks off there instead.....! Thursday is the new Wednesday!

hi all!! just a little reminder that from tonight my classes will be held in the Newell centre. Chichester. 6.30 to 10 p.m. £3.50 per class including tea coffee and biscuits! £4.50 to stay all nigh t! Tonight I'll be teaching AIKO AIKO and 50 WAYS after 7.45 and Smokey places amongst others in the 6.30 class! Then t Tomorrow night is our BIG SUMMER PARTY with free Pimms!! £5 each. please bring a plate to share. your own drinks and a dressed up bear for our Teddy bears picnic competition (if you want to of course.prizes for the best dressed bear!)... looking forward to seeing you sometime soon. love Julie xxx

Six Villages Class is moving!! Last class tonight - Wednesday 22nd August 2012

IMPORTANT NEWS FOR ALL SIX VILLAGES DANCERS!!

 

Tonight will be our last session in this venue - the floor is in need of repair and cannot be repaired until the leaky roof has been done first!!

 

 From next week we will be using a different venue and on a different day!!! YIKES!!! lol......

 

From THURSDAY 30th August my classes will take place in The Newell Centre, Tozer Way, Chichester - class times are 6.30 - 7.30 beginners - 7.30 - 8.30 Improvers - 8 - 10 Intermediates.....as usual the normal 'overlaps' from class to class will be in place.....both the beginner and improver classes are given an extra 15 minutes to boogie alongside the fellow dancers, and if you want to stay on all you have to do is pop an extra £1 in the tin to stay all night!

 

We also will have use of the kitchen and Im going to be introducing a free tea and coffee break at the end of the two early classes and in the middle of the intermediates session.......we are also lucky enough to have a small side hall which will make the perfect CHAT ROOM! So when you want to have your hot beverage you simply pop in there to have it and chat away to your hearts content without the rest of the class yelling SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH at you hehehe.....brilliant!!

 

 For anyone that hasnt been to the Newell Centre already, it has a nice high stage so you can clearly see my little white milk bottle legs.......(I was going to put and orange peel bottom, but I wont!!) nice and clearly.....and has a beautiful dance floor as well.....add to that the free private car park and I really think we are on to a winner!!

 

I have emailed as many of the Wednesday class as I can, with more details about the change, and also with a little reminder of our TEDDY BEARS PICNIC which takes place on Friday 31st August, also in the Newell Centre....I will be selling tickets from tonight and they will be sold on a first come first served basis - if you cant get to tonights class and would like tickets for the party (In which you will all get a free Pimms or fruit punch) then all you have to do is send me a text (or pm) to 07799741288...ok peeps thats all for now! Summer parties and Summer beano news!

hello peeps! on Monday night (6th august) at Oak Lodge West Wickham we are having our SUMMER PARTY NIGHT! We are lucky enough to have use of the BIG HALL for the next few weeks and so will have loads of room to dance the night away! whoop! I will be bringing the Pimms and making a summer punch for those of you that need an alcohol alternative! please do bring a plate to share with the class if you can, and soft drinks for the rest of the night! Doors open normal time....see you there!!!

Wednesday night 8th August will see a couple of new dances to the class being added! your summer party will take place on Friday August 31st in The Newell Centre! Tickets are five pounds each and will be on sale soon! please note there is NO CLASS Wednesday 15th August as we are down at the Royal Beach Hotel from .tuesday to friday that week..if you would like to join us, we have our quiz and grand raffle on Tuesday 14th, our Rock n Roll fancy dress night on Wednesday 15th and the fabby Richard Palmer singing for us on Thursday night 16th..there are a few limited spaces available on each evening so please do let me know soon if you would like to join us! Car parking is free at the hotel, just give your car reg number in at reception when you have parked........

Mondays class is on as normal.....there may be one weeks closure in August, but at the moment it looks like we are staying open right through the school holidays! Southsea Trip Many thanks to everyone that is coming on the trip, I have received and banked all of your monies now, many thanks! not long to go! lets hope that Summer has arrived by August 14th! Wednesday class 11th July Andy will run the evening ably assisted by Helen, as a request night...Helen will be there on the dance floor to help you start the dances off and Andy will be on hand to play all of your requests and keep you amused with his jokes, that are just as bad as mine! lol dont have too much fun without me! Fridays class, Newell centre our new class times are working very well now! here is a little reminder of what they are 12.45 - 2.15 intermediates 3.50 2.15 - 3.45 beginners 3.50 you are an experienced beginner, please do feel free to come along from 2 p.m. and join in with the end of the previous class...... if you would like to stay all afternoon just pay an extra pound! dont forget free tea, coffee and biscuits are provided in each class! Alternative route from Bognor to Six Village - avoiding flooded Shripney Road..

Hi there!!

In case you are travelling from Bognor to come to my party tonight and don't know of an alternative route to get there, please read this:

 Go down A259 at the small roundabout before Bognor bridge roundabout turn right to Drayton go over level crossing then take next right follow til end of road then turn right follow til end you will be at junction with island restaurant (was labour in vain) turn left there then right into six villages!!

I hope you are enjoying your weekend - albeit a slightly soggy one from what I can see out of the window!!

FOR ALL DANCERS IN ALL CLASSES!

I have FINALLY got around to putting the booking forms together for our Annual Club Weekend away to Bournemouth (hurrah I hear you cry!)....if you have an email address you will most likely have found said form in your inbox already......I will be bringing along booking forms to all classes from next week (as this week is party week!) (and Ive run out of paper!!) ...but if you would like to print out a booking form and bring it along to classes this week that would be fine too....! If you havent had a booking form by email and would like one, please drop me an email to julie@linedancingevents.com and I will send one across asap!

SUMMER BEANO news!!

If you have booked to come away with us on a midweek break this August to Southsea, please note that your balance will be due at the END of June...you can pay me by cheque, or by bank transfer - please ask for my details in class...or check the latest email as I have included details in there! Not long now!! It surely has to be summer by the time we get there eh!!

I have given lots of thought as to how best to help our newest dancers and to start to overlap the two classes we have had running for a while and come up with the following......

Intermediates - 12.45 – 2.15 (90 minutes) £3.50

Beginners class  - 2.15 – 3.45 (90 minutes)

 (experienced beginners are welcome to come in at 2 p.m. and share some split floor dances if you have been in my classes for a while and know lots of the easier dances already!) 

Incorporating an Absolute Beginners Review section at the end from 3.15 to 3.45 £3.50

Or to stay all afternoon - £4.50!

AND DON’T FORGET THE FREE TEA/COFFEE AND BICCIES!

I hope this helps everyone! There is a slight price increase to help cover hall rental of 50p per person..thank you for your understanding :)

THE VIKING CLASS - Green Lawns Caravan Park, Selsey, West Sussex...

June in the Katz MLDC - Celebrations and Jubilations!

Hi peeps!!

Just a quickie about the next few weeks in the classes...

Next Monday there is sadly NO class in Oak Lodge - due to Queenie having a two day bank holiday

We are back the following week on Monday 11th June for our Party Night!! This is a double celebration for my 50th Birthday and also to celebrate 10 years of teaching! (you poor things haha)...if you can bring a plate to share that would be lovely.......!

The following week the class will be on Tuesday 19th June instead of Monday as I will be travelling on the Monday and may not make it in time, I thought it would be safer just to run the class on Tueday that week instead.

After that its back to Mondays as normal...!

Six Villages Class - Wednesdays

On Wednesday 13th June - I will be having a party night too!!! As I will be turning 50 that week - I thought it would be nice to have a bit of a knees up!! If you would like to bring along a plate to share that would be lovely.....!!

The Newell Centre Class - Fridays

There will be no class on Friday 15th June - we are back the following week as normal..sorry folks!

The Viking Class - Saturday 16th June - this class will be covered by my good friend Georgina Hefferman who will also be overseeing events in the evening whilst Andy whisks me away for the weekend to celebrate my special birthday .......Georgina will look after you all very well so enjoy the class and do let me know what she teaches you!

All other classes are on as normal...

Just a quick word about the Absolute beginner courses that are running.....

Tuesday 29th may is the last session in Six Villages sports centre - its upstairs in the drama studio from 7.15 - 8.15.....after this session you are more than welcome to join our main beginners class on Wednesday nights - downstairs in the dance studio from 6.45 to 8 p.m. (for beginners)....

I have extended Friday afternoons Absolute beginner sessions by two weeks....the dates are Friday 1st and Friday 8th June.....from 12.15 to 1.15..........

After this there will be some slight adjustments to all class times on Friday afternoons - watch this space for more info - I just need to finalise some details before confirming our new times.....thank you for your patience..

Bank Holiday Monday - May 7th and other info!

Hi there! please note that this week there will be no class at Oak Lodge on Monday May 7th, due to it being a bank holiday! but never fear, as I will be there on Tuesday 8th instead! Hope you can make it! If not I shall look forward to seeing you the following Monday as usual.... there is NO Absolute Beginners class on Tuesday 8th in Westergate. class is back on as normal on Tuesday 15th from 7.15 p.m.! Wednesdays class is on as normal. Fridays class is on as normal. Beginning at 12.15 with the Absolute beginners hour, followed by intermediates at 1.15' and experienced beginners at 2.30. I am selling tickets for our May Summer Party in The Regis School, Bognor Regis (see previous posts below for details) in all West Sussex classes this week. Miss it and miss out! April in The Katz Line Dance Club!

As you will all know I am having a few days off from teaching and classes start back as normal at the viking this Saturday from 1 - 4 p.m.

Oak Lodge starts back on Monday 16th April - times as normal.

Six Villages starts back on Wednesday 18th April - times as normal.

The Newell Centre starts back on Friday 20th April - times as normal.

In addition to all of my usual classes I will be starting TWO Absolute beginner courses from next week!

ITS DAFFODIL DANCE WEEK IN THE KATZ LINE DANCE CLUB! Week beginning 26th March 2012

Dear Dancers,

Firstly I have to say a big THANK YOU to everyone that came away to Bournemouth with us this weekend..we hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did! our next holiday is a three night, four day break on 14th to 17th August to the Royal Beach Hotel in Southsea, Portsmouth! contact me for a booking form!

Classes this week...

There is no class on Monday 20th at Oak Lodge, instead I will be there on Tuesday 21st!!! giving us all time to recover from our weekend shenannigans!

Wednesdays class, 22nd is on as normal at Six Villages

as is Fridays class at the Newell centre, chichester.....improvers from 1.15, beginners from 2.30!

Club News - February 2012

Dear Dancers,

Firstly can I thank everyone that is coming on our up coming trip to Bournemouth on the 17th for your payment. All received and banked. Many thanks!

Please note that the coach leaving from Beckenham, Kent will depart at 10.15 a.m. and the coach leaving from Westergate, Chichester (outside Westergate Community School) will depart at 11 a.m. and will be doing an additional pick up from Chichester Coach Park (as last year) about 30 minutes later, if you would like to board the coach in Chichester please do let me know.

Secondly if you would like to come on our Summer Beano to Southsea this coming August, please email me for details!. I will also be bringing along some printed copies to classes if you would like one? I am so excited to be going back to the Royal Beach Hotel again this year, as we had such a lovely time last August...it will be great to do it all again!

This year we have a night of Live music for you planned too! The fantastic Richard Palmer will be singing for you on the Thursday night, and I just know that you will all love him, he sings all the latest line dance hits as well as all your favourites, and will keep you enterained throughout the evening with the help of my very own super DJ, my hubby Andy!

Class news! Monday class - Oak Lodge Primary School - West Wickham Kent.

Classes are all running as normal - beginners start at 6.30....improvers arrive at 7.30....intermediate teaching begins as always, after 8 p.m........its been lovely to see so many people in the classes since Christmas, and I think the caretakers are happy to have us back after our incredibly short 'break' whilst trying out another hall! hehe.......

Please note there is NO class on MONDAY 20TH FEB...instead I will come up and run the class the NEXT DAY on TUESDAY 21ST FEB (just to give us all a little breathing space and recovery time after the weekend away!)

Wednesday class - Six Villages Sports Centre, Westergate, Chichester.

All classes are back to normal now...beginners start just after 6.45 p.m.....improvers arrive at 7.30....intermediate teaching begins after 8.15 p.m......again, its been lovely to see the classes so well attended since the Christmas break...I think perhaps we are all getting ourselves primed for Bournemouth!!

There are no closures to report. (unless it snows!! DONT SAY THAT OUT LOUD!! SHHHH!) If the horrible 'white stuff' should appear then please do keep an eye on this blog.

Friday class - Newell Centre, Tozer Way, Chichester.

Thank you so much if you have just joined these classes, we are growing in number now and have reached around 30 dancers across the two classes which is just fabulous!

I am having far too much fun on Friday afternoons you know, stopping for tea and biscuits twice in an afternoon is just spoiling me...but I love it!

All my brand new dancers are doing so well, keep at it, you are all amazing!

Please note that due to our club holiday in a few weeks time there will be NO CLASS on FRIDAY 17TH FEBRUARY.....we will be back as normal the following week...my apologies, perhaps you would like to think about joining us on our next trip away in August...?

Saturday class - The Viking, Green Lawns Caravan Park, Selsey.

This class re opens on March 3rd...this is a FREE class open to anyone, please do note that you are not permitted to bring your own drinks or food into the Viking as it is licensed premises.

Please do show your appreciation to Bunn Leisure for allowing you to take part in the class for FREE, buy purchasing at least one drink from across the bar....

Beginners class is 1 - 2 p.m.

Improver/Intermediate/Advanced 2 - 4 p.m. But you are welcome to come along to the whole afternoon if you wish.....

The doors reopen every Saturday night at 6.30 p.m. for a whole evening of line dancing to live music!! Entry for non members is £6 and is payable on arrival.

Membership to gain entry every single Saturday night during the whole season is just £60 per person, or £100 for married couples...please email me if you would like a membership form.
